3.1 Board Feature Auto-Resizing Images

Post by mrkww2000 » Sun Nov 29, 2015 10:52 pm

I can not believe with the release of 3.1 that auto-resizing of images was not part of the design? I'm having a hell of a time getting ReIMG working, seems like websites and downloads everywhere, some links that don't work and take you to a brown mouse image page, not sure what is current and my CP looks different once installed. I had ReIMG installed a week ago and after not working I removed it. Tonight I'm trying again and now just looking for install directions. Why is the resizing of images, especially with how everyone is now on smart phones and taking larger size image and posting from mobile devices, this isn't a built in feature?

It seems like with the release of 3.1 it has made a lot of developers move onto other forum software? Not many new and current styles available out there for download even after a year of 3.1 being released. I'm a little concerned after launching a new forum about 3 weeks ago. Thanks for any help or insight.

Can you post directions for installing ReIMG? Thanks.

Got it ReIMG work, still need to do the other edits. Anyone reading this post and in the same spot, drag your install.xml file to your webbrowser. Scroll down to "File Copy"
This is where/are the ReIMG main instructions with other changes below the copy on that install file:

File copy

Copy: root/install_reimg.php
To: install_reimg.php

Copy: root/reimg/*.*
To: reimg/*.*

Copy: root/language/en/mods/reimg.php
To: language/en/mods/reimg.php

Copy: root/styles/prosilver/imageset/icon_reimg_zoom_in.gif
To: styles/prosilver/imageset/icon_reimg_zoom_in.gif

Copy: root/styles/prosilver/imageset/icon_reimg_zoom_out.gif
To: styles/prosilver/imageset/icon_reimg_zoom_out.gif

Copy: root/styles/prosilver/imageset/icon_reimg_loading.gif
To: styles/prosilver/imageset/icon_reimg_loading.gif

Copy: root/styles/prosilver/template/reimg_content.html
To: styles/prosilver/template/reimg_content.html

All you did was copy those files to get ReIMG working? I think not... If you continue you'll find that the MOD version, what you're trying to install, doesn't work in 3.1 (for sure not with inline images), plus extensions aren't supposed to be editing any core files. This is why this topic exists. As such there are no instructions for getting the old MOD working with 3.1. Also there IS image resizing in 3.1. Inline images are sized based on visible space.

David,

You're right it did not resize. My users keep getting too large warning. Is this because the file is too large in file size or image size or possibly both? What do I need to do in order for someone to be able to upload a large picture both in MB and pixels? If I allow really large of both px and file size in the phpbb Control Panel, will the image shrink down to the monitor's size?

Thanks,
Kurt

duh, looks like a simple fix of just increasing the file size allowed and then automatically resizes to the person's screen size. wow that simple little change could have saved me hours of work. live and learn. thanks

How do you increase the file size allowance?
